Estela Olevsky, pianist
A native of Buenos Aires, pianist Estela Kersenbaum Olevsky has performed on five continents and collaborated with many distinguished instrumental and vocal soloists as well as diverse chamber music groups such as Berlin Philharmonic Festival Players, the Lark Quartet, the Olewsky Trio and the Bach Festival in Buenos Aires under the direction of Karl Richter. She has appeared as soloist with numerous symphony orchestras in North and South America. In the USA she has performed at the Kennedy Center, Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, and Weill Hall. A resident of Western Massachusetts, she frequently performs at Wistaria Chamber Music Society, Five College Music events as well as the Mohawk Trail Concerts in Charlemont, MA where she is also associate artistic director. mohawktrailconcerts.org/
She is Professor Emerita of Piano at UMass Amherst and has given master classes in music schools in the USA, Brasil, Argentina and at the Beijing Central Conservatory in China.
Her discography covers repertoire ranging from Mozart’s Complete works for violin and piano to Piano Solos of Latin America. Most recently “Estela: Rag Latino”, a work dedicated to her by composer William Bolcom was released on the Naxos label.
Many of her former students are teachers in colleges and conservatories such as New York University, Ithaca College, the University of New Hampshire, Beijing Central Conservatory, Xinghai Conservatory, Salzburg Music Academy and the University of Newcastle in Australia.
